CCR Location Aice Media Magazine

Hey blog this will be my second to last blog post. I hope you enjoy my magazine I worked very hard and put a lot of time into it. The whole project is due today Saturday the 14th I will be submitting the magazine, CCR, and the blog posts. I am going to be discussing some of the elements of this project that I liked and disliked. I extremely disliked canva at the begging I thought it was a good platform, but the further I got into the project it just got slower and slower. The website was hard to use to edit and place text in the right places, and to place pictures in specific places you have to place a frame first and then drag the picture into the frame, sometimes this took several tries and sometimes it didn't even go in. If I could start over I would do this again with another platform to do the magazine. Today in class I began working on the CCR. It seems like it will take a lot of time to complete. I am planning on answering all the questions on a separate google docs, so when it comes time to do the voice note presentation I can have everything organized ready to answer. I will be able to quickly see and discuss the answers while the recording is going on. The video has to be 5-10 minutes so it will have to be lengthy and I will have to take my time in order to get to the time limit. I'll be working on this for the following days until the due date on Saturday.

Hey blog today I met up with my partners to see how much progress we have each made on our project and to see what we are each missing in our magazines. I explained to them the idea I had about my double page spread and they told me it was good. So right now I am pretty sure I know everything that I have to do. Tomorrow in class I will start writing up everything for the double page spread and will finalize placing all the pictures. The one thing I have to start doing is preparing for the CCR. This all has to be done in less than a week, so this week is going to be very productive when it comes to this class. Hopefully I get it all done on time. See you next blog!!!

Hey blog today I have decided that in the magazine I will have a featured location article, which right now I think that is what I am going to do my double page slide on. The featured location would be Zermatt, Switzerland. Now that I thought of this I think it is a great idea and it gives me a lot to write about since it is mainly known as a mountain resort renowned for skiing, climbing and hiking. I can talk about all of these things in the two page spread and theres a lot more to talk about. I'm super excited to see how this comes out. The only thing that is worrying me is the time I have left to finish the project which is only one more week. I'll see you in the next blog!

Today in class we had another discussion about our projects. I personally think my magazine is really good. The only thing that is holding me back from having a great magazine is not knowing what I am going to be writing inside of them. Two of the people in my discussion group are doing movies and they are wishing they did a magazine, so I am happy with my choice to do a magazine. Some of the other magazines I saw were basically at the same spot I am in. They all have a basic idea of what their title page is going to look like. They all have most of the pictures that they are going to use, just they haven't placed them on the other pages of the magazine. I have already set up where all my pictures are going to go according to where I am going to place the text. I still have a lot of work to do and plan for. See you in the next blog!😉

Hey blog I will be posting a short blog today because I have a lot going on today. Today I worked on the pictures for the magazine. I got the help of my mom who is experienced in using Photoshop to help my touch up and edit some of the pictures I am going to use. I learned to raise and lower the brightness and opacity of the picture also I adjusted the contrast. These are a few of the techniques I learned to use. See you in the next blog! 😋

Hi blog I am still in Colorado while skiing yesterday I fell and hurt my wrist, neck, and shoulder. Because of this fall I am taking a day off which is today. Since I stayed in my apartment today I decided to get some progress done on my project. Today I was looking how to structure text in a magazine. I was using my moms "HOLA!" magazine. Even tho it is not a travel magazine I am assuming that all magazines have a similar structure on how text is placed. I will be attaching an image on how these magazines are structured so you can see what I looked at.

Hey blog I managed to find some time to work on the magazine. I am researching colors that I will be using within the magazine. I have to show my partners the colors and why we should use them. The colors should be used in every issue that we use in order to let the audience recognize our magazines by seeing our font and colors. Here is a link I found describing the color yellow which is what the main font color of our magazine is going to be. http://www.cabinetmagazine.org/issues/21/thompson.php In this article it talks about how yellow can highlight things in a way where it can convey different meanings. These meanings all depend on the reader. Therefore I want to have the color yellow as out font color for the magazine header.

Hey blog I am falling behind on my project. My family decided to take a week trip to Colorado to go skiing. I don't know how much progress will be made through out this week because I will be out most of the day. I'll try and do some work. Right now I am working on the airport Wifi that I gained access too for half an hour. While away I will be documenting some of the stuff I need to do ASAP for the magazine. Hey blog today I worked on Canva begging to get my magazine started. I feel like I should have started before now that its coming closer to the end of the year for me and more events keep on coming up. I started by trying to pick all the pictures I'll be using in it. I started placing them on the magazine to see what it would look like and to see which ones I liked. I am currently clueless to what I will be actually writing inside of the magazine. I am going to create a separate google docs and I will jot down random ideas/topics I get that I can include or write about in the magazine.

Hi blog I haven’t uploaded in a few days, today I decided what location I want to use for my magazine issue. I will be using Zermatt, Switzerland as my main location in the magazine. I want to make it about the t he locations you can visit while you are there and also I want to talk about the ski resort that they have in Zermatt which is in the Swiss alps. I have a lot of information to write about and I have several pictures I can use to show off this location. An idea I had was that since I am talking about a ski resort; In a small section on maybe the double page spread I can talk about other ski resorts around the world that attract people from all over the world such as Bariloche in Argentina, Vail and Aspen  in Colorado, Park City in Utah… The list goes on and on with all these ski resorts. This is a very basic sketch of what I want my front cover and two page spread to look like. I am still unaware of what my two page spread will contain, but I need to figure that out soon. I spoke with Gabriel and Alejandro about the magazines, because we still haven't decided on what title we want to use, also we don’t know what font and font color we will use on the cover. I think using blue and yellow as the main colors of the magazine could be nice because it will be easy to distinguish for the audience and those colors appeal to people. I will have to conduct some research on what fonts we like. This is something I haven't really paid much attention too because I haven't really started to put my magazine together. I feel like once I start making the magazine I will easily be able to decide on what font I will use.

Today in class we had a feedback session with other classmates who aren't part of our group. I showed them what I had done of my blog so far. They gave me some tips, pointers, and advice on what to do with the magazine. I spoke to them about the locations I had and I asked them which places they thought were best. They told me that Venice and Paris were probably the two best places since they are easy to identify in pictures, and it can peak a lot of peoples interest about the places they can go there that they don't know about since it is a travel magazine. The problem with those places for me is that I don't think I have enough pictures to use to create the magazine. Hi blog I am sick today, so I don't know how much work i'll put into the project today. This project will be the end of me. I will have to work on it every Sunday because during the week I am very busy. I will try and decide on what location I will use for the magazine, and then begin research on how to style the magazine and what sorts of texts to use in the magazine. I created my account for Canva today and was exploring the website to see if I liked it or not. It seemed pretty good and very user friendly. I will explore Joomag later to see, which one I like better.

Today we will be brainstorming ideas for the title of the magazine. Some of the ideas we have so far are: Journey Explore Adventure Destination Places This is what we have so far. Were not sure how good they are but we will ask our fellow classmates next class, which ones they think are the best. Also I have come across a problem. The location I want to use for my magazine I don't think I have enough pictures to use for it. I will have to look at my other options or I will use the ones I have and make it work. I wanted to use Zermat, Switzerland because I have gone there to ski. Its a beautiful ski town with beautiful mountains surrounding it. I think my second option is Paris, France.

I will be looking at other travel magazines so I can learn more about them. I need to see how they are formatted, how they look, what colors are used. I need to learn everything about making one. Some of the magazines I’ll be looking at for guidance are: Natural Geographic Traveler Travel + Leisure Sunset I will be looking at the cover pages of each of these magazines and I will be reflecting my thoughts on them. For “Natural Geographic Traveler” I really liked the style of the cover page. I like how each issue uses the yellow border around the cover. The yellow border makes it easy for people to identify that its national geographic. Also the use of color and the creative fonts make the cover look appealing to people. When I look at this magazine I think it looks interesting and I would want to pick it up. I have decided to create a schedule so I can assure myself that I will work on my magazine every week. This project is a lot of work and I cannot be leaving it for last minute. My schedule will contain what I will try and accomplish for the week. WEEK 1 : - Introduction to blog - Create schedule - Begin research (look for locations, gather thoughts on different magazine styles, look at travel magazine tendencies, etc.) - Try and create with a name for our magazine  WEEK 2 : - Continue research - Gather pictures from my trips to show them to my partners and decide which are the best for the magazines. - Put together title page - Decide what my double-page spread will consist of - Begin table of contents WEEK 3: - Complete table of contents - Start double-page spread This is what I have so far I will continue to add to my schedule as I go on. We have come to the decision that we will be doing a travel magazine. Now each of us has begun to look through our pictures to see what location we can use. We need to have enough pictures to make that our destination. We will all meet on the weekend to see each others pictures and agree if the place we will do is adequate. Some of the places I have in mind for my magazine are:  (Zermatt, Switzerland) (Cancun, Mexico) (Madrid, Spain) (Paris, France) (Venice, Italy) I have traveled to all of these places and have taken tons of pictures of the places I went when I was there. Our magazine would contain the a picture of the selected place as the cover, and on the inside I will use more pictures of places in order to get readers to learn about the selected place .

This is my blog, where I will be writing about my process of creating my magazine. In order to get this magazine to happen I will need to create a  front page, contents page,and a double page spread. I will need to document everything I do in this blog. All the resear, ideas, and thoughts I have will all be writtten on this blog. This project is going to be a lot of work, so I have to create some sort of list so I can tackle it one by one and start and finish tasks that need to be finished. I will be posting here three times a week. Every post will probably be an update on my project and in which way it is going. I will be conducting research on genre first. Some of the genres I have in mind are a sports magazine, car magazine, fitness magazine, and a travel magazine. I will be looking into all of these and looking if I can easily do any of these.
